Referring to the details of the gas exchange between the two neighboring countries, Mohsen Pak Ayin said “the trade volume of Iranian gas to Azerbaijan in one billion cubic meters which lasts all through the year and the gas is delivered to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic which via Astara border.”
He maintained that Iran supplies Nakhchivan’s gas in turn for importing gas from Azerbaijan; “considering the cold climate of Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan is seeking to buy more gas from Iran and relevant negotiations on increasing the swap volume between the two sides is being pursued.”
Pak Ayin went on to emphasize that no power can interfere with the friendly relations between Tehran and Baku and asserted “Iran and Azerbaijan possess great potentials for cooperation in energy, trade and cultural areas with the two governments becoming more determined in activating the capacities by bolstering bilateral ties.”
The official further reminded the Iranian President’s special look on developing relations with neighbors adding “Iran follows the route of friendship, peace, tolerance, equality and solidarity in relations with the regional countries and nations.”
Iranian ambassador to Baku underlined the numerous visits of senior Iranian officials in parliamentary, economic, military, cultural and scientific areas and maintained that more than 30 stable and effective cooperation documents have been signed between the two countries.
The official announced the holding of Iran-Azerbaijan Economic Commission on December 21 with the attendance of Azerbaijan’s economy minister; “commuting of economic official between the two sides has led to a 20 per cent increase in bilateral economic cooperation,” he maintained.
“In their geographical zone, Iran and Azerbaijan can be defined as the bridge to each other and the complementary corridor of Oman and the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea,” concluded Pak Ayin.
